Caretaker Residence Matching Challenge

Friends of the Farm have pledged to match every donation made by year-end toward our $80,000 Caretaker Residence debt!

Donate now and your gift will be doubled!

To share this campaign with friends and family, create your own fundraising page or click the social media links below the thermometer. A few extra clicks and a little push from you expands your own impact and gets us that much closer to fulfilling the match!

We are proud to have built the Caretaker Residence in as sustainable a manner as we knew how: with super insulation, solar heating, rainwater collection, and nontoxic finishes. Energy-efficient lighting and appliances also means it is less expensive to operate. We are able to welcome many more Caretakers and Summer Servants than we could before (as many as 23 of us slept under that roof this summer), with more flexibility for families and introverts alike. Now, a debt-free Farm will mean more resources available for the Sustainable Upgrade Fund, a potential program to install solar power with low-income families, and future Farm projects.

We asked this generous donor family to share with you about their motivation for initiating this matching challenge and they wrote the following:

Our family was first introduced to Bethlehem Farm through our daughter and her story is shared below:

“Bethlehem Farm has changed my life for the better. When I first went to Bethlehem Farm the summer before my senior year of high school, I was greeted with hugs from strangers who become part of my extended family. Over three years later, the many people whom I have met at the Farm continue to be positive influences in my life. Bethlehem Farm is a community that continues to change lives of people from the Appalachian community and all over the country. Throughout my times at Bethlehem Farm I have met people from all parts of the country and even from other countries. The Farm has opened my eyes to new ideas, people, and ways of life. I have met so many people from different walks of life that I never would have met otherwise. Thinking back on my times at the Farm brings me such great joy. The hard work, reflections, new community, and love that I have experienced on the Farm continue to have a strong influence on my life. The type of community that Bethlehem Farm models is something that everyone should experience at some point in their lives. Bethlehem Farm is not just a place, but a community and a home.”

After visiting Bethlehem Farm we were very impressed with the focused mission of the organization and the commitment of the Caretakers. We saw that there is significant need in the local community and when coupled with the positive impact on its volunteers, it was clear to us that Bethlehem Farm is fulfilling its mission of transforming lives through service. The Caretakers and the Board of Bethlehem Farm have proven to be outstanding stewards of their resources and are deserving of your continued support. We hope you will join us in serving God by helping to retire the remaining debt on the Caretaker Residence. This will free up resources to allow Bethlehem Farm to continue to expand their mission in service of Christ!
